Lakers coach Phil Jackson once called Kobe Bryant “a selfish player,” but now sees his best player a little differently.
“He’s learned how to become a leader in a way in which people want to follow him,” Jackson said after the pair won their fourth title together.

After the Lakers won their 15th championship, Charles Barkley was quick to voice his opinion on Phil Jackson.
“I don’t know if he’s the greatest coach of all time, but Phil Jackson is in the conversation. I mean, you win 10 championships — that’s pretty impressive. But I don’t think he’s coming back. Phil’s done. I just think he’s had enough. He’s definitely gone. That’s just my opinion, though.”

Two days later, Phil Jackson called goaltending on his own center.
An hour before tip-off of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Jackson said Los Angeles center Pau Gasol should have been whistled for goaltending on Orlando rookie guard Courtney Lee’s missed layup in the final second of regulation in Game 2 on Sunday night.

Which Forward Will Coach Call Upon?
Lakers coach Phil Jackson saw his team lose another game to a short-handed Rockets club, but he is not worried.
“There’s nothing to worry about,” Jackson said after Houston’s 95-80 win in Game 6. “It’s just a game and we’re going to go out there and play, and it’s our home court. … The last game [at home] we beat them by whatever. We play a different game on our home court. It’s pretty obvious now to see.”

Yahoo Sports reports that the Los Angeles Lakers probably are not going to finish with the best record in the NBA. But how important is having the second or third best record in the league? The Lakers need to answer that question before they decide whether or not to rest regulars for the playoff marathon.

Which Forward Will Coach Call Upon?
The Los Angeles Lakers will most likely be without their backup forward, Luke Walton for the start of training camp. It is reported, he is still recovering from ankle surgery that he had on July 18th and is still awaiting medical clearance from his doctors to perform weight bearing exercises. For now, all he is allowed to do is run on a weight resisted tread mill.
