Lee Had Options: Knicks forward David Lee did not settle for the New York Knicks, in fact he had a number of options, one of which was a multi-year deal from the Portland Trail Blazers, a deal they wanted an answer on quickly this past summer.

Donnie Walsh told David Lee that he would like to re-sign him after this season.
“It was said point blank that they are happy with what I’ve been doing and that moving forward, they would love to see me part of what’s going on,” Lee said.

The Knicks have reached an agreement with David Lee on a one-year contract that will pay him $7 million and an additional $1 million bonus if the team makes the playoffs this coming season.

Negotiations between the Knicks and David Lee are “nowhere new,” the power forward’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Monday.
The Knicks are “open minded” and “willing to listen,” said Bartelstein, when the topic of sign-and-trades have been broached.

The Knicks were hoping to get Nate Robinson and David Lee signed at the same time and that is still a possibility if Lee is willing to agree to a one-year deal worth between $7 and $8 million.
