Andre Miller
Newly acquired veteran point guard Andre Miller said Tuesday he expects to start for the Portland Trail Blazers during the team’s upcoming 2009-10 season.
The battle between Miller and incumbent starter Steve Blake for the team’s starting point guard position has yet to officially begin — training camp starts Sept. 29.

The Portland Trail Blazers signed veteran free agent guard Andre Miller to a three-year, $21 million deal on Friday.
Miller, whose NBA career has spanned 10 seasons with four teams, averaged 16.3 points and 6.5 assists as a starter for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

The 76ers have withdrawn their one-year offer to free-agent point guard Andre Miller, according to a source familiar with the club.
Philadelphia made the move because they do not believe Miller wants a one-year deal.

Team president Donnie Walsh appears close to making Sixers point guard Andre Miller a formal offer for the one-year, $5.8 million midlevel exception.
A Sixers source said Philadelphia general manager Ed Stefanski is talking to several teams about sign-and-trades but has yet to hear from the Knicks.
