Newly acquired veteran point guard Andre Miller said Tuesday he expects to start for the Portland Trail Blazers during the team’s upcoming 2009-10 season.

The battle between Miller and incumbent starter Steve Blake for the team’s starting point guard position has yet to officially begin — training camp starts Sept. 29.

Rose Garden Arena in Portland

The Portland Trail Blazers signed veteran free agent guard Andre Miller to a three-year, $21 million deal on Friday.

Miller, whose NBA career has spanned 10 seasons with four teams, averaged 16.3 points and 6.5 assists as a starter for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

A Sixers source said Philadelphia general manager Ed Stefanski is talking to several teams about sign-and-trades but has yet to hear from the Knicks.

NBA Rumors was created by three college grads who played Division III NCAA basketball for Berkeley College. Back then, basketball was our life. A day did not go by without us talking about what was going on in the NBA.

Today, we are all working in our respective industries in Midtown Manhattan. And two years after we graduated, basketball started to fall out of our radar as we started spending more time in the office and less time on the court. Therefore, we created this blog to reunite our passion for the love of NBA and basketball across the world.
