Channing Frye

The Cavaliers met with Channing Frye on Monday, and the club appears interested in signing the free-agent forward.

Currently, Cleveland is looking at a number of power forwards in addition to Frye. Antonio McDyess is believed to be one of those players.

“I do think I’m a good fit. I think having a big that can create space for LeBron, Shaq and Mo [Williams] can’t hurt,” Frye said via e-mail.

“I feel like all the teams have a great opportunity for me to play and for me to contribute, especially [in Cleveland] — to be a part of history.”

Frye is the “stretch” forward the Cavs lacked in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Magic. Ferry and Co. are hamstrung with just the Mid-level Exception and LeBron’s contract mystery. After Ariza was not swayed by LeBron’s recruiting prowess, a “level-down tier” player like Frye may be the best Cleveland can do at this point. Although the Cavs only have the MLE, it’s too bad they couldn’t get LeBron to sign an extension (even with him exercising his 2010-11 player option and perhaps signing a two-year extension) and maximize the MLE with Ariza or Artest – as both would feel secure about LeBron’s future.

About Us

NBA Rumors was created by three college grads who played Division III NCAA basketball for Berkeley College. Back then, basketball was our life. A day did not go by without us talking about what was going on in the NBA.

Today, we are all working in our respective industries in Midtown Manhattan. And two years after we graduated, basketball started to fall out of our radar as we started spending more time in the office and less time on the court. Therefore, we created this blog to reunite our passion for the love of NBA and basketball across the world.

We hope that you will enjoy our blog. We are intensively working on our coffee breaks to bring you the best rumors that the NBA has to offer.

Sincerely,
