The booing caught Derek Fisher off guard. “It was shocking,” he said the other day, recalling his return to EnergySolutions Arena last season with the Lakers.
Fisher left the Utah Jazz after one season, asking to be released from his contract so he could find the best medical attention available for his infant daughter, Tatum, who was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer in the spring of 2007.
The Jazz let Fisher out of his contract, and he signed with the Lakers, believing Tatum could find superior doctors in Los Angeles. Fisher thanked the Jazz for their understanding and moved on with his life and his career. He was not prepared for the rough reception from Jazz fans when he returned.
