Monta Ellis
Monta Ellis rejoined the team today and made it a point to communicate that he did not miss any time because of an injured ankle, but rather that he had to visit his ill mother in Jackson, Miss.
He repeatedly referred to his mother’s sickness as the ONLY reason he was not playing, essentially dismissing the Warriors’ announcement a few weeks back that Ellis was being shut down over lingering ankle stiffness.
“I went home to see my mom. My mom was sick, that’s why I took the time off. It had nothing to do with my ankle.” Ellis told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Ellis is expecting to play Wednesday, and Nellie is doing another flip-flop. After saying he wanted Ellis to be the 2-guard while Jamal Crawford handles the point, Nellie now wants Ellis to be the PG for the rest of the season. Which, if you ask Ellis, is what he’s been doing all along.
“I’ve been playing point since I’ve been back. You go look at the film,” he said. “They brought it to me that they want to play me at the one, Jack at the 2. So it is what it is.”
