The Miami Heat likely will play the remainder of its schedule without recently acquired guard Luther Head.
Head broke the third metacarpal in his left hand while playing defense against Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s 101-95 loss at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Although surgery is not required, Head is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks, a schedule that would have him out for the first round of the playoffs.
“I was shocked that it was broken,” Head said. “I was trying to pop it back into place. It didn’t feel like a break.”
