Shaun Livingston
According to inside sources, Shaun Livingston was released by the Miami Heat this morning following Monday night’s 91-84 loss to the San Antonio Spurs at AmericanAirlines Arena. The team is expected to make a formal announcement later today.
Livingston was originally drafted as the 4th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2004 and he was regarded as one of the most promising up-and-coming pointguards in the league. Unfortunately, he suffered a horrible knee injury on Feb. 26, 2006 that left him with a dislocated left kneecap and three torn ligaments.
20 months after the injury, the former Clipper signed a guaranteed $370,000 contract for this season with the Heat. Livingston’s comeback was limited to four appearances totaling 41 minutes this season — his first NBA action since the injury. Miami’s head coah Erik Spoelstra said that his release was based more on the salary cap that fitness.
