With the Cleveland Cavaliers standing as first place in the Eastern Conference, many believe that LeBron James is the NBA’s most valuable player. One credible vote comes from last year’s MVP, Kobe Bryant, who believes that James has taken his game to another level this year.
Perhaps it is Lebron’s improvement on defense that has gained Kobe’s respect. James is averaging 2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.
“Defensively, he’s obviously made some improvements in terms of protecting the lane, getting steals, getting out in passing lanes, getting balls back for his team,” Bryant said.
Kobe had a chance to bond with James during the Beijing Olympics and got an inside view of Lebron’s work ethic.
“I’m a big fan of his, obviously,” he said. “I just think the world of him. Playing with him this summer [at the Beijing Olympics], and seeing his work ethic and what he’s about, I just think he’s terrific.”
