Oden in Doubt

Greg Oden

Greg Oden

On opening night, nine days ago, Greg Oden unfortunately suffered another bad spell when he sprained his right foot in the first quarter against the Lakers. His rehab schedule was set to 2-4 weeks, with another prognosis emphasizing a return closer to the 2 rather than the 4.

His team, the Portland Trail Blazers, are set to go on a four-game trip to Orlando, Miami, New Orleans and Minnesota but Oden’s spot on the team plane for that trip is doubtful.

“My conversations a week ago was that he could possibly be ready for practice on Sunday (in Orlando), which is our first practice on that trip,” McMillan said. “But now, it’s looking like he might not be able to run.”

The question is, do you bring Oden with you or not? The majority of Oden’s rehab work has been done in the team’s pool, and if he goes on the trip, he will not be able to proceed with these exercises. On the other end of the hand, if Oden does rapidly heal within two weeks, his services as a big man would be highly sought after on the road trip. Especially, when the Blazers go up against Dwight Howard and the Magic.

Even if he practices on Sunday it’s doubtful he will see any run on Monday against the Magic. Nate won’t want to send him out there against Superman in his first game back. He’s not conditioned and definetly not ready for that match up. Possibly later in the trip against Minnesota and GS, but I suspect we will see him next against Chicago back at home on the 19th. That will give him some time to practice and condition. Maybe he could lose a few pounds in that time as well.

About Us

NBA Rumors was created by three college grads who played Division III NCAA basketball for Berkeley College. Back then, basketball was our life. A day did not go by without us talking about what was going on in the NBA.

Today, we are all working in our respective industries in Midtown Manhattan. And two years after we graduated, basketball started to fall out of our radar as we started spending more time in the office and less time on the court. Therefore, we created this blog to reunite our passion for the love of NBA and basketball across the world.

We hope that you will enjoy our blog. We are intensively working on our coffee breaks to bring you the best rumors that the NBA has to offer.

Sincerely,
