Stephon Marbury’s days as a New York Knick may be coming to end very soon.
Sources close to Donnie Walsh have stated that Mike D’Antoni has asked Donnie to waive Marbury. The source said the reason being is D’Antoni believes that Marbury would sooner or later become a poison to the team due to not accepting a limited role with the Knicks.
Walsh has stated that he would like to meet with Marbury this week and figure a resolution that would best satisfy both the Knicks and Marbury.
“I’d like to get into it and find out as soon as possible,” Walsh said to the NY Post. “It’s not fair to anybody really. [We have] to find out where can this go, and then we can make a decision.”
It has also been rumored that Marbury would indeed like to be waived just because he is desperate to play. “I’m a free agent, too. I got to get on the floor and show what I can do. I just want to play basketball.” Marbury told the NY Post.
If Marbury is waived, the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets are believed to be interested in acquiring Stephon for the veteran’s minimum of $1.2 million. Denver is believed to be the front runner because Stephon worked out with the Nuggets assistant coach, Tim Grgurich, over the summer.
Which duo do you think will be exciting to see:
A. Marbury and Dwyane Wade?
B. Marbury and Carmelo Anthony?
