On Sunday, when the Sacramento Kings faced the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Martin sprained his ankle driving through the paint. He was bumped by Andris Biedrins on a shot attempt and fell awkardly. Once he got up, Martin was evidently in pain when he shoot the free throws. He also had tears in his eyes, believeing that his ankle had broken in the play.
“When I first went down, I was just thinking, ‘Not this again,’ ” Martin said. “That’s why I started crying, because I thought it was over. When I went over to the bench, I thought it was something (worse). It was pretty painful. I tried to walk it off, but it wasn’t working”.
Martin had X-Rays after the game which turned out negative. Although the injury was not as bad as he initially thought it would be, Martin still decided to take a couple of days off rather than force a quicker recovery. It turned out to be a smart move because the injury will only sideline him for seven to ten days.
