The Los Angeles Clippers have acquired Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks for Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas.
Zach Randolph has been the Knicks’ leading scorer thus far in the season, as well as, rebounder averaging 20.5 ppg and 12.5 rpg respectively. For the Clippers, the move will primarily give them much needed help in the low post but might also help bolster a fresh new start to the struggling franchise with the addition of two new faces.
“I thought we were going to come around. It’s hard. It’s hard because I like all the guys a lot. It’s tough.” Said Thomas, who played in New York for part of the 2003-04 season and in 2004-05: “It’s a little shocking to have another chance to play in New York. The way the season was going with the Clippers, you had to know something had to happen. That’s the nature of the business.”
Earlier today, the Knicks also traded Jamal Crawford to the Warriors in exchange for Al Harrington. Both deals, on behalf of the Knicks, have been made to clear cap-space for 2010.
