Many people were shocked when at the first day of free agency, Baron Davis chose to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers instead of the Golden State Warriors.
The move was considered to be highly unexpected because Baron Davis did at several times express a strong interest to extend his contract with the Warriors. As a result, several inside sources believed that Baron had solely signed with the Clippers to be closer to his home in L.A.
Nevertheless, it has now finally been revealed why Baron actually left Golden State. Apparently, Warriors executive Chris Mullin and Baron Davis had reached an agreement for a three-year, $39 million contract extension in June. However, the deal went up in flames when Warriors President Robert Rowell refused to approve it.
“Chris Mullin was always, like I say, as general manager, he was always in my corner,” Davis said. “From the time I got there to our playoff run, he told me that he wanted me there as the future of the franchise and he wanted to keep me.
