After competing for the Gold in Beijing, Australian point guard Patrick “Patty” Mills is currently preparing for his sophomore year at St. Mary’s Moranga College in California.
During the summer, he became one of the youngest players to suit up for the Australian Men’s basketball team and caught the attention of many NBA scouts, coaches, and general managers during the Olympics. While playing the Americans in the quarter finals, Mills matched his age by scoring 20 points and gave the USA point guards a run for their money. Both Deron Williams and Chris Paul had a tough time guarding the lightning quick point guard throughout the game.
Since many draft experts have predicted a thin draft this year, in terms of talent, Mills could likely opt to enter the draft and end up as a mid 1st round draft pick.
Whether or not he makes himself eligible for the 2009 NBA Draft, this young man has a bright future in basketball!
