The Minnesota Timberwolves reported today that forward Al Jefferson has suffered a mild sprain of the medical collateral ligament in his right knee. An MRI Exam taken yesterday confirmed the injury.
The severity of the injury is quite mild as Jefferson is only expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks. He should be able to recover fully by the start of the season.
Al Jefferson joined the Timberwolves last year in part of the Kevin Garnett trade. He was arguable the most valuable player in that trade for Minnesota. In his first season with the Wolves, he averaged 21.0 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
