Monta Ellis Injured
The Golden State Warriors announced today that Monta Ellis has suffered a severe high ankle sprain and will be out for at least 3 months. Ellis has already been treated with surgery to repair a torn deltoid ligament in his left ankle. Additional information on how Ellis injured himself has not yet been disclosed.

The Los Angeles Lakers added another foreign player to their repertoire with the signing of Sun Yue. Yue and the Lakers have agreed to a two year deal and the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed as of yet.

This morning, The Phoenix Suns sent D.J. Strawberry to Houston Rockets in exchange for Sean Singletary. The general consensus in Phoenix was that Strawberry would not be able to run the offense, nor establish himself as a defensive stopper. More importantly, the trade will save the Suns about $540,000, including projected luxury-tax savings.

Late last week, the Denver Nuggets reported that they have signed shooting-guard J.R. Smith to a multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released but it is believed that Smith’s new contract probably is not paying him as well as he had hoped to. In the off-season, very few teams showed interest in Smith, which lowered the financial bar for Denver to resign the player. Smith even told the Denver Post that he had not been approached with any serious contract talks.

Dorrell Wright has agreed on a 2-year deal offered by the Miami Heat. He is expected to officially sign the contract later this week. Rumors indicate that Wright did not receive a lot of offers from around the league and as a result, felt no hesitation to agree to the $2.9 million offer that was extended to him.
