The Memphis Grizzlies have inked a deal with Iranian big man, Hamed Haddadi. According to sources, he has signed a multi-year deal that is worth close to that of a 1st round draft pick. Terms of the contract have not yet been disclosed.
Hamed’s talents were showcased during the Olympics in Beijing this summer. He averaged 16.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks making him the only player in the Olympics to average a double-double. He also led all Olympians in rebounds and blocked shots.
The Grizzlies are very excited about their new acquisition. They believe he will add a lot of depth in the frontcourt, especially in the rebounding and shot blocking categories.
Hamed is the second international player to sign with the Grizzlies this summer. The first one was Pau Gasol’s brother, Marc Gasol. With their recent additions in the frontcourt, the Grizzlies might now be willing to part ways with Darko Milicic.
