23 years ago, the New York Knicks selected Patrick Ewing from Georgetown University as the number one pick in the 1985 NBA draft. Today, they revisit history by trading for his son, Patrick Ewing Jr. from the Houston Rockets. Houston, in return, received the draft rights to 1999 first round pick, Frederic Weis.
Patrick Ewing Jr. is not the Hoya Destroya like his dad was, but he has potential to play in the NBA. Many criticize his offensive play and ability to shoot the ball. Knicks’ President, Donnie Walsh, on the other hand, loves Ewing for his defense and athleticism on the court.
Ewing Jr. will cap the Knicks roster out at 16, which is one over the maximum allowance for each team. Any guesses on who is next to get cut?
